INSTALLATION PROCESS OF YOUR NEW VINYL WINDOWS: Your St. Clair installation crew will introduce themselves to you and get right to work. They will place tarps under each opening and the walk areas to protect your St. Louis area residence. Each opening is remeasured to ensure the proper fit. The old window is removed and the new vinyl replacement window is placed into the opening. The replacement window is then squared, secured with 3" screws and insulated. The inside trim is put back into place, or new trim is installed and then sealed. All exterior wood is covered with aluminum coil and sealed. Last, all work areas inside are vacuumed, replacement vinyl windows are cleaned, then all work related debris and old windows are hauled off.
For Stay Clean Glass Windows, use mild soapy water to clean windows. Avoid scouring pads, Comet, Soft Scrub, Ammonia and alcohol-based products.
To tilt in your replacement windows for cleaning, unlock the vinyl window. Raise or lower the sash (for double hung windows) or slide the sash open (for sliding vinyl windows) a minimum of 3". Squeeze both tilt latches to disengage them. Carefully lower the sash toward you. If necessary, support it either by resting it on a chair or having someone help you while cleaning. When closing the sash, make certain that the tilt latch buttons click in to lock the sash in place.
For best results cleanin your new vinyl windows, St. Clair recommends store-bought glass cleaners, soapy water or a mild vinegar and water solution (except on Stay Clean Glass - see below for cleaning tips). Wipe dry with a soft lint-free cloth, or try an old-time method that really works - dry your vinyl windows with a newspaper.
